We stayed for four nights in the Paradiso room. The room was very clean and furnished well. Good lighting with the two skylights, reading lights on the night stands, and lots of lights in the bathroom. The shower was great! The breakfasts were presented well and were delicious. The portions were good. The staff kept the whole place spotless. We enjoyed our stay and the evening cookies were a plus. :) The 4th of July decorations in the dining room were lovely. I rated the room with 4 stars because the mattress topping was not a king size one so it bunched up whenever we slept on it. I did mention it to staff so it's probably corrected by now. The nightly rate was abit more expensive but we were definitely treated well. Thank you!

I was completely impressed with their professionalism and customer service. What a delight it was to find that they were able to accommodate my special diet. They offer delicious Gluten Free meals and cookies! Their staff is friendly and highly skilled. The rooms are clean and cozy. Just an inviting and comfortable place to stay.

Unfortunately, in spite of the nice facilities, we had a negative overall experience due to being overcharged for our room. We booked a Queen room because the King seemed like not a good value for us. When we checked in, we were offered a King upgrade for $50. I asked if that charge was for the entire 3 day stay (not a per night charge) and was told that, yes it was $50 for the whole time. This seemed like a great deal, so we took it. My credit card was charged for $160, but I didn't think much of it, since hotels frequently place a hold for incidentals which is later refunded. But it turned out, this was not for incidentals, they acutally charged us $50 per night (plus tax). I called the place to explain that this is not what we were offered, but they said there was "nothing they could do" and the policy was for the upgrade to be a per night charge. They thought the employee must have made a mistake in offering us the upgrade for a single up-charge. AND YET THEY WOULD NOT STAND BEHIND WHAT THEY OFFERED US. This seems like a terrible bait and switch to me, so I'm pretty upset with their customer service. I filed a dispute with my credit card company, but they came back in favor of the hotel, so apparently there is nothing more to be done. My advice would be to find another place to stay, one that will stand behind what they say. Especially so, since their hotel was not at all full when we stayed there, and good customer service would have cost them NOTHING. They were not going to sell that more expensive room anyway, so why not stand behind what we were told Seems like crazy bad service to me. UPDATE: Do not believe what the owner wrote in their reply. I was told (and my wife was standing right there) that it was $50 upgrade for the WHOLE STAY (else I would not have done it). I specifically asked the counter person if it was for the whole stay or per night and they said the whole stay. I may well have initialed or signed something that said the opposite (who reads all those papers that they tell you to initial here and sign here?), but my point is that I was very specifically offered one thing and then charged for another. The person who wrote the reply was not there at check in (or else they are lying).

Showed up and was greeted by Jenny who described what she considered their best room so well that we upgraded and were so happy we did. The room exceeded our expectations. The view was incredible. The bed was comfy and the fireplaces added a great touch of atmosphere. The spa tub was phenomenal and the modern details were exceptional. Great restaurants within walking distance. The breakfast provided and the service by Gretchen and the kitchen staff made us leaving for breakfast completely unnecessary. The entire staff was so helpful with local sightseeing and places to hike. Beautiful room with views and a very welcoming staff. We will be back.

We had an exceptional time at this beautiful boutique hotel. Gretchen was so friendly and the attention to detail with everything was beyond our expectations. The breakfast was above and beyond and we can’t say enough positive things about the entire experience. Thank you Gretchen for making our day extra amazing. ☀️🌊

Highly recommended staying here. My wife and i took a trip for two nights to Cayucos and loved our room at this place. To say the staff was nice is an understatement. The room was beautiful especially the view of the ocean. The room was also well maintained and clean. The staff went above and beyond the night before my wife’s birthday and left a birthday card for her and a mini bouquet of flowers. They also wished my wife a happy birthday the morning of her birthday. The breakfast sent to your room option was a great choice. The food was tasty. Everything exceeded our expectations. The property was very quiet and we were able to get good quality sleep. We will definitely see you again in the future. Thank you for everything.

Thank you Gretchen for making our stay so warm and inviting. Your friendly and helpful manner were greatly appreciated. We stayed in Cayucos at the Sunset Inn and we would HIGHLY recommend the Inn. The breakfasts were delicious but also very well plated and beautifully laid out. The room we stayed in was spacious and comfortable. The bathroom had a jacuzzi tub which we enjoyed.

The service was amazing! Our rooms were clean, well appointed, comfortable bed, and had everything we needed. The cookies in the evening were perfect. The breakfasts were delicious and it was nice not having to hunt down a place to eat first thing in the morning. We did go out for an espresso before breakfast. A great place to get rest! Even tho it is on the main street through town, it was very quiet! Thank you!
